Happy Highlands Farm Herd

Aurora's story

Aurora, Belted Galloway, came to us in January 2026 at two years old. She came with a beautiful newborn heifer calf. We moved them into our barn to give Mom and baby calf some privacy, have Mom gain some weight, get acclimated to her new surroundings and provide shelter from the cold weather. Shy initially, but gradually warming up to her new people. After a couple of months the transition to the pasture with the Highland cows and horses went pretty smoothly. Her trust in the Highland herd mates had grown big enough to allow each and everyone to babysit her calf. In the future we hope to breed her to our Highland bull Rumble in order to get beautiful "Highbelts", with fluffy, hardy coats and mellow personalities.
